earthy bodice was but a shadow upon the grasses of the plain, her dark-marked back blending with the grasses as she slipped silently through their tickling strands. lavender eyes scanned the horizon, nostrils twitching every now and again. the lioness was starving, she'd travelled long and hard to find this place. to settle somewhere new and far away from the beasts that yearned to strip her of her pelt and line their dens with it. her travelling companion would be wandering somewhere nearby, surely. seeking a den for them to rest and recoup in while she scrounged up lunch. his vivid pelt would give him away, while hers was the perfect camouflage.
ears twitched hearing sounds oh so similar to the tell tale of hoof beats. muscles tensed and aiyana sunk closer to the ground. claws unsheathed themselves, preparing to sink into her soon-to-be meal. tongue smoothed over her whiskers, pale rump low enough not to alarm any wandering prey. but then the foot falls disappeared. veering off in another direction. the tawny woman rose slowly from her crouch, looking for the retreating back of her victim. but there was none. too fast for her to catch. damn.
a dissatisfied huff left liver-hued lips as the female rose from the grasses, shoving them out of her face as she travelled to a less brush-infested area of the grasslands and plopped down. she supposed a quick rest never hurt anyone. it'd give her time to think over how to best fell a sizable meal on her lonesome and drag it to wherever her partner in crime had claimed for their den.
they needed to find a pride soon, hunting alone was tiresome.
