Breeding Mechanics.
So you want to have cubs? You've come to the right place! Here you'll find everything you need to know about breeding, litters and cubs.

There are a few requirements a character needs to achieve before they are able to have a litter. Firstly, lions reach sexual maturity at 2 years of age and are physically unable to reproduce until then. Also, a character needs at least 75 IC posts before they can mate and have have their first litter; 50 posts must be made at least, between seperate litters. Once these requirements are met, characters are able to breed.

A pair need at least 2 completed threads before they can successfully mate and produce cubs; take note that the more completed threads a pair has together the higher the chance of rare traits and mutations in the litter. You may allude to having mated, just remember that all threads must be PG - nothing graphic. Use fade-outs or take it offsite.

Lionesses must be part of a pride to have a successful pregnancy. If a pride disbands or they leave a pride when pregnant, they have 7 OOC days to start to join a pride otherwise the pregnancy will fail. She must be officially in a pride by the time she gives birth. Cubs cannot survive outside of a pride before 2 months of age. If a pride disbands, a cub has 7 OOC days to join or be claimed into a pride otherwise they will succumb to the elements.

Litters.
A lioness will be pregnant for 1 IC month. The number of cubs born in a litter is highly variable depending on the resources available and the health of the characters. The max litter size is 4 cubs per litter. Ill or weak characters are more likely to have smaller litters or litters with stillborn cubs, however, stillborn cubs do not necessarily have to be played out - that choice is left to the players.

For reference:

- Loners will have 0 CUBS in each litter
- Pride lions will generally have 1-2 CUBS per litter
- High ranks will generally have 2-3 CUBS per litter
- Emperors/empresses will generally have 3-4 CUBS per litter
- Exotic hybrids will have 1 CUB

Cubs.
Cubs will be generated when mods receive a litter request (found here) using the same RNG method of generated lions, though they are heavily influenced by their parents' genes. Once generated, staff will post the cub details with a design based off of the rolls - unless, of course, you have bought the ability to make a custom cub at the shop.

When the cubs are generated, the parents are responsible for finding members to play the cubs by the time they are born. Cubs are playable at birth. If a cub does not have a player by the time they are a month old, then they are considered dead.
